Aging Lung Function Cured With Resveratrol in Red Grapes

Aging lung function characterized by enlargement of the airspace and decreased lung function. These symptoms are significant risk factors causing chronic lung disease in humans. A study conducted by Barbara Driscoll, PhD, explained that the inhalation treatment of resveratrol affects the degenerative aging changes in the lungs of mice.

Aging Lung Function Cured

Resveratrol, a polyphenol compound found in plants, and usually used in the medical field. These compounds classified as a phytoalexin compound, produced by plants in response to the entry of pathogens or diseases. Scientists believe that these studies prove the beneficial effects of resveratrol treatment effect on the lungs and the aging lung function, the study published online in the journal Thorax.

How Aging Lung Function Cured?

This study aims to identify, protect and strengthen young lungs before significant damage occurs. Resveratrol (RSL) which found in red wine or red grape, its an antimicrobial chemical compounds produced by plants to protect against infections and stress-related changes. This opinion never previously shown to support muscle metabolism.

RSL prophylaxis taken by scientists used as a potential approach to slowing down the destruction. Especially age-related lung function and structure, a way to preserve Alveolar epithelial type 2 cells (AEC2) lining the alveoli and produce surfactants that are critical to an efficient breathing. The alveoli which tiny air sacs in the lungs, passed when the ongoing exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

In healthy young adults, efficient breathing is an important process. But the natural aging of the lungs occurs at a steady rate and can not changed. All of this is measured by a decrease in lung function, which causes environmental damage air quality. And significantly reduced life for a certain period, depending on the genetic and environmental factors.

Some therapies available today can improve the symptoms of aging associated with lung failure. Generally irreversible and is accompanied by high rates of morbidity and mortality due to an increased risk of disease. Including the development of COPD with emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Scientists have investigated whether the accumulation of degenerative changes associated with age in the lungs can slowed by inhalation RSL. Treatment cohorts received as RSL or intratracheal (IT) gradually over three months. Then, a month after the last treatment, lung function intact and injury-related gene expression in AEC2 will assessed.

Damage naturally in the human lung generally occur over decades. Injuries to the cells of the lungs is analogous to damage lung cells, usually occurs in premature infants who suffer from respiratory before their lungs fully developed.

Scientists concluded that administration of resveratrol directly into the lungs is an effective intervention to fight aging lung function. It aims to prevent a significant risk to the development of chronic lung disease.
Prophylactic treatment of inhalation at resveratrol may slow the rate of lung function. Enlargement of alveolar epithelial type 2, and alveolar cell DNA damage, occurred in the early stages of aging lungs.
